How do we make our companies fit for the future? A perennial issue that was discussed intensively under the term "curiosity" in a select group of over 60 experts, board members, managing directors, HR managers and students at TU Wien. Curiosity is a powerful driver for learning. When we are curious, we are motivated to acquire knowledge and improve our skills. Curiosity drives us to ask questions, accept challenges and develop ourselves further.
And that doesn't just apply to us humans, but also to organizations!
How can we use this understanding to make our companies more curious, keep them curious, keep them awake - it's all about readiness for the future?
Prof. Dr. Werner Stork and Prof. Dr. Anke Kopsch from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, who are conducting scientific research into this topic as part of a university alliance with the University of Reykjavik, the University of Bremen and ETH Zurich, presented some of the latest key findings on this still relatively new topic.
Combined with expertise on the topic of Organizational Learning from Prof. Dr. Wolfgang H. Güttel from the Academy for Continuing Education at TU Vienna and Prof. Dr. Gerhard Graf from Transformation Management AG, an exciting in-depth insight into the possibilities and concrete approaches for consciously anchoring curiosity in companies was created.
The considerations were substantiated by exciting examples from Dr. Uta Stockbauer from VP P&C at MIBA AG and the CEO of the Conrad Electronic Group Ralf Buehler.
The more than 60 participants worked on the 4 central facets of curiosity
💥 The joy of discovery
💥 Social curiosity
💥 Stress tolerance
💥 Drive through gaps in knowledge
a common understanding of each aspect, concrete ways of promoting these 4 different curiosity dimensions, concrete approaches but also obstacles, especially company-driven obstacles.
The results were condensed in a joint exchange including an expert talk.
The findings of this evening will be incorporated into the research program and made available to all participants of the exclusive event.
